Following the development of the new HUG identity, I regularly design new posters to promote greyhounds and events or fundraisers for the group. We always look for new ideas and angles to present greyhounds to the public in an attempt to change their perception within society, and increase awareness of their suitability as pets. Everyone who has ever owned a greyhound knows how they enrich your life in a myriad of ways, and we wanted to promote the medically based research which proves that dogs can actually improve your health, lowering blood pressure, reducing stress and strengthening the immune system. Referencing the classic slogan “Guinness is good for you” (this is Ireland, after all!) with an illustration of a helpful doctor dog, we use this poster for promotions throughout the country.
I also updated my first poster created for Kerry Greyhound Connection into the new HUG brand. This poster was used on racetracks to raise awareness with spectators about the fate of the dogs after the race meeting is over.
The second annual Gig for the Greys is a fantastic social event and fundraiser for HUG, featuring live music and entertainment down at Kate Kearney’s Cottage in the Gap of Dunloe, Co Kerry. I haven’t been fortunate enough to go yet because of timing, but maybe next year!
The next event coming up is a pub quiz down in Cork, check it out if you’re in the area!
